2019
For our final design project, we were tasked to expand on something we did in the past, as well as create a working method. The final piece should include the element of chance and play.
For this project, I chose to expand on the bulletin board studies. I wanted to create a pattern and play with colors. Using the same images from the bulletin board, I spread them out randomly to get the composition. I then assign symbols and colors to parts of the human body and geometric lines in the reference images to create an abstract pattern. My three final pieces depict three distinctly different images created out of different sets of rules.
I first draft out the composition digitally, before translating it into a handmade design using gouache on black watercolor paper.
