Jocelyn Salim is an illustrator, designer, and art educator passionate about sharing stories about nature and culture.
Hello! My name is Jocelyn, but some people call me Josa. I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, and moved to Singapore when I was five.
I graduated with honors from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Illustration and Nature-Culture-Sustainability-Studies. I am currently furthering my education at RISD with a Master’s in Art and Design Education, and working on my thesis exploring the intersection of art education and environmental education and how art can serve as a powerful tool to inspire people of all ages to cultivate a deeper relationship with the planet and one another.
I am primarily a picture book maker, but I am also interested in book cover design, editorial art, comics, toy/game design, event and exhibition planning, and other forms of visual storytelling. I also like to dabble in screenprinting, bookbinding, ceramics, jewelry, and learn new crafts whenever I have the chance.
Let’s work together! You can contact me at hello@jocelynsalim.com or fill out the form below.
